Songs That Make You Happy, Volume 1

One of my favorite ways to get out of a funk is to listen to really fun and happy music...at a very loud decibel.  Whether I’m at home, in the car, or in a bar it’s my go-to for some feel good results. When you throw on a song that makes you happy to dance and sing around to like a fool, it’s hard, if not impossible to be distracted by whatever is going on around you in that exact moment.  This is why, for example, when I’m driving long distances I make sure to have a killer playlist on to distract from a typically anxious situation. And, it works.

I have to admit, I’m generally not a real “downer” music kind of girl.  Anything slow that makes you feel all the feels really isn’t my jam. If I’m needing some sort of relaxing option, like say for the bath, I like to turn on podcasts and learn some shit.  Even during my at home massages (never underestimate my dedication to self-care), I like to play some more upbeat 70’s acoustic music. So, if you’re ever next to me while driving in a car and wonder “why is that girl putting on a concert by herself,” now you know why.  It makes me feel good and raises my vibration. Why is it good to raise your vibration? Glad you asked. Vibrations = energy. When you are flowing from positivity, you typically see a general overall happy mood that can even be felt physically.

I like to mix up genres with old classics and new hits.  Without further adieu here is:

Celine Dion - River Deep, Mountain High

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Toto - Africa

The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony

Avicii - Wake Me Up

John Mellencamp - Pink Houses

Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out

Beyonce - Freedom

Tom Petty - American Girl

Random? Sure, Feel good? Absolutely. Most of these songs will be found on my TouchTunes app where I am convinced that being a DJ is my missed calling in life. Give these a listen and see how you feel! These songs are going to be stuck in my head all day now, and I'm not mad about it.
